Frequently Asked Questions Explanation of Pricing and Shipping Terms

.        Will the size of my vehicle affect the price?

Yes. A full-size truck or SUV will cost more than a regular sedan. Shipments are based on the length and weight that a truck can legally carry. Taller and longer vehicles, as well as those with specialized or custom enhancements to the exterior may also require an additional fee.

.          What is the difference between open and enclosed trailers?

The most popular and commonly used trailer is the open trailer. These trailers carry anywhere from 7-10 vehicles at a time. Open trailers are less expensive than enclosed trailers. However, open trailers will subject your car to the elements of nature, such as rain, snow, wind, and dirt. Still, unless you are shipping your vehicle through extreme climates, this option should be fine. If you own an expensive or classic car that you wish to protect from the elements during hauling, an enclosed carrier may be worth the extra cost. An enclosed trailer is a trailer that has a covered freight area. Enclosed carrier shipping is much more expensive than shipping on an open trailer.

.          What is door to door vs. terminal to terminal service?

Door-to-Door

Terminal-to-Terminal services means you would bring your vehicle to a designated terminal belonging to the auto transport company, drop it off and then it would be loaded on a transport vehicle and shipped.  The vehicle would be delivered to another terminal in the vicinity of your destination location and you would have to pick up the vehicle from there.

service means the auto transporter will pick up your vehicle from your specified location/ home address and deliver it to your designated destination/home address.
The car transport driver will get as close to your door as he can legally and safely get. Many cities have restrictions on large trucks that prohibit them from driving into some residential areas. Transport trucks are enormous and need lots of room to maneuver and turn around, so if access to your home is restricted by narrow streets, low-hanging trees, speed bumps or tight turns, the driver may ask that you meet the truck at a large parking lot nearby such as a grocery store.

.          Can you transport my vehicle if it is not in a running or operational condition?

A non operational vehicle (called an INOP vehicle) can be transported, however, additional charges will apply. In order to provide you with correct information, we will need to know the true condition of the vehicle. For example, it is important to know if your INOP vehicle rolls forward and in reverse, steers and brakes. Vehicles that do not meet this criteria can still be moved, however, may require special equipment for loading and unloading. The rates for INOP vehicles is substantially higher than vehicles that run due to the fact that it requires a smaller 3-4 car trailer with a winch to load and unload.

.          Do I get to choose specific pick-up and delivery dates?

No.
A 7-day window for pick-up is common and reasonable.  We do our best to get your vehicle picked up or delivered on the dates you request but it is impossible to guarantee a particular date and time.  After the vehicle is picked up, the driver's name and phone number will be provided to you and they should be able to give you a fairly precise estimate of the delivery date.

.    Can I place my personal items in the car?

Any personal items are placed in vehicles at the owner's risk. Auto transporters are not licensed or insured for the transport of personal items or household goods. You may place up to 50 lbs. in the trunk of your vehicle at your own risk and agree to hold harmless the carrier for any loss or damage to personal items. Carrier's insurance does NOT cover personal items.

.    What type of insurance is included to protect my car?

American Dream Transport Services requires all carriers to provide primary insurance coverage for the customer's vehicle. We require the motor carrier's cargo insurance to be no less than $150,000 and is primary coverage to your own insurance coverage, in an unlikely event that a claim may arise. This insurance covers damage to the vehicle only, and does NOT cover any loss or damage to any personal property left in the vehicle.  Insurance certificates for assigned motor carriers will be provided upon request.

.    What is the estimated transport time?

Typical transport time coast to coast nationwide is estimated at 7-14 days. The estimated transport time varies for shorter distances and routes. Auto transporters cannot guarantee exact transport times due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather elements, road conditions, natural disasters, mechanical issues, etc.

.    Will my vehicle be transported on more than one carrier?

NO!  Many Auto Transport companies will pick up your vehicle, transport it to a terminal, unload it, then reload it onto another truck at a later date and finish the delivery.  American Dream Transport Services requires all it's transporters to deliver your vehicle on the same trailer it was loaded on.  This saves you several days in transit time as well as reduces the risk of damage to your vehicle if it is only handled one time.  The only time your vehicle may be unloaded and reloaded is if the original transporter has mechanical issues and needs a replacement transporter to finish the delivery.

.    What forms of payment do you accept?

The deposit can be paid by Visa, MasterCard or American Express. The remaining balance is payable upon delivery and MUST be in the form of CASH, CASHIER'S CHECK, or MONEY ORDER made out to the Carrier.
